Final Aim Contributes to IP Journal, a Specialized Intellectual Property Publication by the Foundation for Intellectual Property

Introducing Approaches and Practical Case Studies on the Use of Generative AI in Product Design and the Minimization of Intellectual Property Risks

Tokyo, Japan, June, 2025 - Final Aim, Inc.  (Headquarters: Delaware, US / Co-Founder & CEO: Masafumi Asakura, Co-Founder & CDO: Yasuhide Yokoi, hereinafter referred to as “Final Aim”) is pleased to announce that the company has contributed an article to the 33rd issue of IP Journal, a specialized intellectual property publication issued by the Foundation for Intellectual Property.

The issue features a special theme titled “Generative AI and Product Design.” In the article, Final Aim explains design and manufacturing processes leveraging generative AI, as well as approaches to minimizing intellectual property (IP) risks when utilizing such technologies, based on practical case studies developed and deployed by the company.

Generative AI × IP × Design

Since 2022, generative AI technologies have rapidly advanced toward real-world adoption, significantly impacting industries and cultural domains such as design and manufacturing, publishing, entertainment, and visual media. At the same time, an increasing number of cases have emerged that are difficult to address under existing IP frameworks, accelerating global discussions around the ownership and protection of outputs created using generative AI.

In this contribution, titled “Changes in Design Practice and Generative AI,” Final Aim addresses these societal and industrial challenges by introducing the technologies and real-world use cases of its platform, Final Design. The article focuses on the following three key themes:

  • The application of generative AI in product design and its future potential
  • IP risks associated with the use of generative AI
  • Practical case studies by Final Aim on minimizing IP risks when leveraging generative AI

In addition, drawing on insights gained from projects conducted together with domestic manufacturers and Japanese companies expanding globally, the article presents perspectives on “the future of generative AI and product design” as well as “the future direction of technological development in generative AI.”
